This topic introduces the laws of exponents, the meaning of logarithms, and the key logarithm laws you need to know. Integer exponents, rational exponents, logarithms with base and base , change of base, and solving exponential equations are all to be expected on your exam. An exponent tells us how many times a base is multiplied by itself. For example,
If the base is negative, brackets matter.
