In this section, the graph transformations from earlier topics are extended to include functions such as $y=|f(x)|$ , $y=f(|x|)$ , $y=1/f(x)$ , $y=f(ax+b)$ and $y=[f(x)]^2$ .

These transformations are especially useful because they let us sketch new graphs quickly from a known graph of $y=f(x)$ .
